The editorial team at editorial@animalfeedadditives.net receives corrections, news tips, questions about a page and press enquiries, through the form below or by email.
The site is compiled from named primary sources and sells no product. This page also sets out what a correction report contains and where quotes and expert questions go.

Which Feed Additive Topics Does the Editorial Team Cover?#
The editorial team answers questions about feed additives as Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 defines them: substances, micro-organisms or preparations, other than feed material and premixtures, intentionally added to feed or water to perform a function listed in Article 5(3). Article 6(1) sets the five feed additive categories: technological, sensory, nutritional, zootechnical, and coccidiostats and histomonostats. The US side has four routes: food additive, GRAS, new animal drug in feed and the AAFCO-defined ingredient under FDA enforcement policy.
Feed materials and compound feed, raw mineral commodities, feed-mill equipment, breeds, housing, diseases as topics, veterinary drugs outside feed, human supplements and consumer or backyard shopping questions are outside the scope. Treatment of livestock drinking-water systems and crop-protection spray adjuvants are outside this site's scope.
Suggestions are welcome, and a news tip is most useful with the act or register entry attached.
How Do I Report an Error on a Page?#
You report an error by choosing the topic "Correction or factual error", pasting the page address and quoting the statement together with the primary source that contradicts it.
What a correction report contains#
A correction report contains five items, and the primary source is the one that decides the outcome.
- Paste the page address and the section heading.
- Quote the value as printed.
- Cite the primary source with instrument, article or section, and date.
- Name the jurisdiction (EU, US, GB or another market).
- Give an email address for questions about the report.
Three citation patterns show the level of detail. For the EU, "Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/565" is the act for 3-NOP entry 4c1, which sets 53 to 80 mg/kg complete feed (12 % moisture) for dairy cows and cows for reproduction. For the US, "21 CFR 558.355" is the section for monensin as an approved new animal drug. For EFSA, "EFSA Journal 2024;22(7):8856" is the FEEDAP Panel guidance on the efficacy of feed additives.
Which primary sources settle a fact-check#
Each claim type is settled by the body that issues it: EU entries by the authorising act and the EU Register, US status by the eCFR and FDA, identity by PubChem and ECHA.
| Claim | Issuing body that settles it | Example pattern |
|---|---|---|
| EU entry: identification number, species, minimum or maximum content, expiry | authorising implementing regulation (EUR-Lex) and the EU Register of Feed Additives (Food and Feed Information Portal) | 4c1, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/565, dairy cows and cows for reproduction, 53 to 80 mg/kg complete feed (12 % moisture), expiry 2032-04-28 |
| EU safety and efficacy assessment | EFSA FEEDAP opinion or guidance (EFSA Journal, doi) | EFSA Journal 2024;22(7):8856 (efficacy guidance) |
| US status | eCFR (21 CFR 558, 573, 582, 584) and FDA CVM | 21 CFR 558.355, monensin, approved new animal drug |
| AAFCO-defined ingredient | AAFCO Official Publication read with FDA GFI #293 | MOU expired 2024-10-01; GFI #293 notice 2024-10-24 |
| GB status | UK FSA register of feed additives and GB legislation | no end date for GB authorisations from 2025-04-01 (SI 2025/361, reg. 23(3)) |
| Identity (CAS, EC, formula) and hazard classification | PubChem for CAS and structure; ECHA for EC number and CLP classification | ECHA wins for EC and CLP, PubChem for CAS |
| Effect sizes | peer-reviewed journals (doi), meta-analyses named as such | study with authors, year, journal |
Evidence is weighed in a fixed order: an EU authorisation with an EFSA efficacy conclusion, then a peer-reviewed meta-analysis, then a single trial, then a supplier claim. The methodology and fact-checking page gives the full order of sources.
Trade press, supplier brochures and encyclopaedias do not settle a report.
What happens after a correction is accepted#
An accepted correction replaces the published value with the official value, cites the instrument and its date, and adds a dated correction note to the page. A newer official source always replaces the published value.
Published values age for dated reasons. EU authorisations run for 10 years and are renewable (Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003, Articles 9(8) and 14(1)). GB authorisations carry no end date from 2025-04-01 (SI 2025/361, reg. 23(3)). In the US, the AAFCO-FDA memorandum of understanding expired on 2024-10-01, and AAFCO-defined ingredients now fall under FDA enforcement policy GFI #293. Adoption is not application: Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1115 was adopted on 26 May 2026 and applies from 16 December 2026. The note format and what is never changed silently follow the editorial policy on corrections.
Where Do Supplier Quotes and Expert Questions Go?#
Supplier quotes and expert questions go through two separate forms, not through the contact form, because each request is passed to independent suppliers or independent experts.
| Request | Form | Fields |
|---|---|---|
| Price or supply of an additive | request quotes from feed additive suppliers | additive, grade or form, quantity per year, destination country, certification needed (FAMI-QS, GMP+, organic, halal) |
| EU dossier, US petition or GRAS, third-country registration, formulation | feed additive regulatory or formulation expert | topic, species, country, short description |
We pass requests on to independent suppliers and experts; nobody pays to be named on this site (see the editorial policy).
Press, Advertising and Independence#
Press and partnership enquiries go to the same editorial address, and the answer to every advertising request is the same: the site carries no advertising, sells no ranking and takes no paid listing.
Companies appear only as register holders or as sources of a market fact, and are never ranked. The site uses no analytics or advertising vendors.
What the Contact Form Does Not Answer#
The contact form does not answer three kinds of question: animal health advice, consumer product questions and requests to name an author.
Is veterinary or nutrition advice given by message?#
No: the editorial team gives no veterinary or nutrition advice by message and no treatment or dosing advice for sick animals. A sick animal is a question for a veterinarian. Pages state authorisations, legal limits and published evidence.
Can I ask about a pet food or a product I bought?#
No: questions about a product you bought go to its manufacturer, and an EU pet food label must give a free telephone number or other appropriate means to obtain information on its feed additives (Regulation (EC) No 767/2009, Article 19).
